What methods do you use to teach Spanish?
If you're a world language pedagogy nerd like me, you have come across the irrefutable research that Comprehensible Input approaches (like TPRS & OWL) and Spaced-Repetitions produce the best results in attaining language proficiency and mastery. I keep up-to-date with training and professional development in order to provide the highest-quality language learning experiences for my clients.
What does this mean for you? It means we focus on the 4 proficiency skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking. We USE the language in authentic and functional ways. We work with high-frequency words and structures (the most commonly used words and phrases) so that you are able to communicate right away! Classes are ENGAGING, students become ACTIVE and VALUED members of the community, and they achieve significantly better results than in more traditional grammar-based classrooms.
Do you teach online or in-person?
Both! I'm in Catonsville, Maryland, in the United States.
Many of my offerings are hybrid courses that meet live in-person or on Zoom once a week, have asynchronous lessons and assignments students complete and submit on their own throughout the week, and include optional in-person field trips and meetups.
With interactive online elements and small, community-style classes (where the student is an integral, active participant), your digital native children get the focused attention they need to really thrive.
Fully in-person offerings are on their way as pandemic restrictions loosen.
If you'd like 100% in-person classes and have access to a safe, cat-free environment near Catonsville, MD, let's arrange something!
What do you charge?
Virtual private tutoring sessions are $35 for half-an-hour and $70 for one hour AND when applicable INCLUDE:
- personalized lessons specifically crafted to help you achieve your specific goals
- unlimited access to quality subscription language services, study resources, and curated assignments
- communication and collaboration with your (child's) teacher if requested
In-Person sessions will have an additional travel, printing, materials, and loss of bookend sessions fee. Please understand that having me travel to you means that I cannot take a tutoring session before or after your child's in-person session. The cost of in-person tutoring will reflect this loss of income. Please contact me with your location and tutoring needs for more information on in-person sessions.
